This is a real statement piece and is inspired by the bow of a Picket boat
The right hand side of the sculpture is deeper than the left to give the impression of the shape of the hull.
The board has been worked to represent the marks and scrapes seen on small craft.
45 foot picket boats (or Admirals Barges) were one of the Royal Navy’s largest ‘ships boats’ Picket boats were used for patrolling harbours or carried on larger ships such as aircraft carriers. Many were used as admirals barges. As admirals barges they had green hulls and were
known as Green Parrots, The rear of this sculpture is painted green as an acknowledgement of that.
