Inspiration for this is the copper plates that were fitted to British wooded fighting ships . Sea life is unable to survive on this metal and seaweed and debris was unable to snag on the hull. This gave significant advantage to the ships in speed and manoeuvrability.

An impressive and popular piece that  is a fine example of the artists ability to apply media to his work to create the illusion of metals. The deliberate missing rivet  begs the question of the viewer as to construction of the piece. Another sculpture that resembles a cross section of a ships hull
